Out of all the styles of festival chairs, one stands alone – The Kelsyus Mesh Backpack Outdoor Chair. After years of going without a chair, and a few more where I lugged around a folding chair, I discovered this chair of festival chairs.
It features arm rests that double as backpack shoulder straps for easy transport when the chair is folded. Converting the arm rests to shoulder straps and back takes some getting used to, but once you understand how it works you will be cruising from stage to stage with ease. Folding it up requires a simple pull on an elastic cord.
It is made of a mesh material that helps keep you cool and will dry quickly when it rains. Plus, it sits low to the ground which meets the height restrictions that most festivals place on chairs.
It has a fairly large zippered storage pocket for stashing food, water, or whatever else you may need. This pocket can be concealed inside the legs when you fold it up which might make it possible to smuggle items (beers) through security undetected. However that claim is unsubstantiated and I deny having any prior experience to support such a claim.
Arguably the best feature of this chair is the built in adjustable head and neck pillow. Not only does it add a little extra comfort to an already comfortable chair, there is a second zippered pocket hidden on the underside of the pillow. It is a great place to hide your most precious and secret valuables, whatever those may be.

Optional Canopy
Kelsyus also makes an optional canopy that fits this chair but after buying it and trying it out I returned mine to the store. It is great to take shade with you anywhere you go, but it requires a little more set up and take down time, and folding it so it can fit back in its carrying case can be challenging.
Note: I did have a clip break on mine, sent it back to the company and they replaced it without any questions. Just make sure you fill out the warranty registration card included in the box.
Make sure you check your festival’s chair policy before you try taking it with you. While majority do allow chairs, each festival sets their own policies. Know your’s before you go.

Just look how happy these guys are to be sitting in between sets at the 9008 Rothbury Music Festival.
