After a one year hiatus, the Kokua Festival will return to beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii on April 23-24, 2010. Created, hosted,  and headlined by Jack Johnson, the 2 day festival will also feature Grammy award winning reggae star Ziggy Marley, Grammy winning composer and blues artist Taj Mahal, composer and ukulele guru Jake Shimbukuro, and Hawaiian born singer songwriter Anuhea.

The Kokua festival will once again benefit the Kokua Hawai’i Foundation which promotes education and awareness of environmental issues  in schools and communities in the state of Hawaii. In addition, the festival will feature demonstrations, products, and services of numerous local and global eco-friendly businesses.

While many festivals are now focusing on greening efforts, the Kokua Festival has been “green” since its inception in 2004. Some of the festival’s greening practices include:

  • A bike valet service, electric trolley, and carpool incentives
  • Promoting the use of reusable water bottles and providing free water stations
  • Running festival generators and vehicles on locally made biodiesel

  • Offsetting the remaining emissions with clean energy development in Hawaii
